This is the most tedious of all the rehearsals. This is where the tech crew sees the show for the first time and we run light cues and other technical aspects of the show. There are lots of moving pieces to the show and we just have this one day to figure most of it out on stage. It’s a slow, but necessary process to make show day look and sound great:). Thanks in advance for being patient with the process :)

OTHER NOTES:
• ABSOLUTELY NO FOOD OR DRINK ALLOWED IN THEATER OR AUDITORIUM OR DRESSING ROOMS! This is a Tarleton rule and they are very strict about this. These items can be left in the Green Room or dressing rooms while practicing. If your dancer would like a snack, they are welcome to bring it to the green room and eat it. Please only have water in the dressing room.
• VOLUNTEERS: I am looking for volunteers to help watch the dancers during these rehearsals. If a parent is able to stick around for some or part of the rehearsal or have an older sibling that could help, some “backup” would be appreciated J. Please let me know it you can help. Thanks in advance!
• COSTUMES: Costumes will be going out the week of May 13th to those that have a zero balance with the studio. If you have any questions regarding that, please send me a text at 254-977-3772. An example picture of the costume can be found in the parent portal in your dancer’s class section under “costumes”. Once costumes are home, please make sure to get the wrinkles out of the costumes. Here are some ways to get that done: steamer (BEST METHOD), hanging tutus upside down and mist them with water and hair spray, toss them in the dryer on steam setting- nothing higher!, or iron them only if they are cotton (please don't iron synthetic materials).
• TIGHTS: I will have tights for sale as well. Make sure your performance tights are clean and don’t have any holes in them. They are $10 and can be added to the portal.
· NUDE LEOS: A nude leo is recommended to be worn under costumes, especially those that have costume changes. If you would like to purchase one, we have them for sale. They are $20. They can be added to your portal. Just ask me or another teacher for one.
• HAIR: Your dancer’s hair must be in a secure bun with bobby pins and a hair net for ballet. Please do not have the hair in any other hair style. Here’s how to make a bun: Start with damp hair. Make an extremely slicked- back pony tail at the crown of the head.
Add gel to hair to make sure there are no “whispies”. The light from the stage with create a glow around your child’s head if there are stray hairs. Split the pony tail into 2 halves. Twist the hair in one of the halves and then wrap that half around the pony tail holder, adding bobby pins as you go. Twist the hair in the other half and wrap the hair in the opposite direction of the first half. Wrap the entire bun in a hair net and fasten with bobby pins. Spray the entire head with hair spray. Please do not use a foam bun maker. Here is a link to a ballet bun tutorial.

• MAKEUP:
Recital Makeup: The purpose of stage makeup is to give “life” to your child’s face on stage. The bright stage lights will wash all the color out of the face. The makeup needs to be applied heavier than everyday- wear. Here are some tips for applying stage makeup:
*Use a darker shade of liquid foundation than you normally would choose for your child's skin tone. This might look weird up close, but keep in mind that audience members are far from the stage, and the stage lights make everyone very pale. Apply powder foundation over the liquid foundation to finish the look. Add a rosy blush to the apples of the cheeks. Avoid the tanner tones of blush.
Put a neutral-colored eye shadow such as tan on each eyelid and right underneath each eyebrow. Add a darker color eye shadow such as cocoa to the space in between. Blend both colors. Apply black eyeliner to both the top and bottom eyelids. Extend the eyeliner about a 1/2 inch beyond the outer corner of each eye. This helps the eyes appear larger. Apply two coats of black mascara after applying eye shadow and eyeliner.
*Trace both the upper and bottom lips with the red lip liner. Fill in the top lip with a long-wearing bright red lipstick, and then have your child rub her lips together to blend the lip color onto the bottom lip.
If you would like to order a show shirt, here is the link to order. All orders are due by May 10th. Shirts are $20
