Our spring shows aren’t your normal dance recital! We always put our spin on your favorite children’s stories and incorporate professional actors and singers to add a fun touch to our shows! At SDC, we love the synergy and teamwork between professionals and young dancers to create and inspiring experience for every one involved! Below are the professionals that grace our stage every year!
Chance Harmon is considered one of the top performance instructors in the nation, and has loved performing on stage with Stephenville Dance Center as the King in Cinderella and Grimsby in The Little Mermaid. Chance began his career as a teenager performing at various theme parks like the award-winning OPRYLAND U.S.A. in Nashville, Tennessee, and he has performed in numerous regional theater productions and Broadway national tours. Chance was a performance specialist for the Viacom Corporation, working on shows like MTV’s Becoming Presents and Say What? Karaoke.
Other credits include various series for The Food Network, ABC, and award-winning shows like Fear Factor and VH-1’s Save The Music. He has directed over 100 theatrical productions, and has performed on many distinguished broadcasts and live theatre events. Notable stage performances include The Radio City Christmas Spectacular at the Radio City Musical Hall, Sister Act the Musical at the award-winning WaterTower Theatre, and the world premiere of Sleeping Beauty at The MUNY Theatre in St. Louis, where VARIETY praised him as “a bright spot on the stage.” In 2012, Chance returned to his hometown of Wichita Falls, TX, where he created and administered an in-school theatre workshop program called Acting Out In Class, which provided arts education for over 7,000 students at 26 different elementary and middle schools in North Texas. He assisted with the Wichita Falls Alliance for Arts and Culture’s Teaching Artist Learning Labs, which brought in master teaching artists from Lincoln Center Education to train teaching artists across the midwest. He then moved into the Executive Director position with Lawton Community Theatre in Lawton, OK, where he was heavily involved in fundraising and artistic endeavors across the community and re-energized the theatre spirit in Southwest Oklahoma. He now serves as the Artistic and Technical Director of Backdoor Theatre in Wichita Falls, TX - the first stage he ever performed on. Chance is a prominent advocate for the arts nationwide, with a heart for rural communities.
Bryson Petersen is an actor, singer, and teaching artist with 20 years of experience performing in North Texas and Southwest Oklahoma. He has had the fortune of playing the Sultan in Aladdin, the Prince in Cinderella, and Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid at Stephenville Dance Center — the last two being opposite his fiance, Mikki Hankins. Bryson began acting professionally in 2017 and has played roles like Ambrose Kemper in Hello! Dolly (Casa Manana), Reinhold/Male Swing in Spring Awakening (Uptown Players), and Joey in Sister Act: The Musical (WaterTower Theatre). Additional credits include Princeton in Avenue Q (Theatre Arlington), Beast in Beauty and the Beast (Plaza Theatre Co.), Danny Zuko in Grease (Granbury Theatre Co.), and Jamie Wellerstein in The Last Five Years (Lawton Community Theatre), where Broadway World called him a “strong and robust performer” who “oozes charm and magnetism.” He has also narrated several radio shows and audiobooks available on Audible. Off-stage, Bryson participated in Lincoln Center Education’s teaching artist development labs in New York City, and he has spent hundreds of hours teaching, directing, and working as a lighting designer and technical director.
Mikki Hankins is an actress, singer, and dancer from Fort Worth, TX. She has loved playing many princesses with Stephenville Dance Center, including Jasmine in Aladdin, Cinderella in Cinderella, and Ariel in The Little Mermaid — the last two being opposite her fiance, Bryson Petersen. Mikki has provided countless hours of entertainment for restaurants, bars, and coffee shops in the metroplex, and has provided backup dancing and vocals in several music videos. Professional theatre credits include Jesus Christ Superstar and Goin’ Hollywood (both at WaterTower Theatre). Additional credits include Sophie in Mamma Mia! (Granbury Theatre Co.), Belle in Beauty and the Beast (Plaza Theatre Co.), Esmerelda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame (Artisan Center Theatre), and Cathy Hiatt in The Last Five Years (Lawton Community Theatre), where Broadway World said she is “vocally gifted and sparkles on stage.”Mikki is a freelance teaching artist and choreographer, and works as a princess-for-hire across North Texas and Southwest Oklahoma.
Jarrett Self is an Oklahoma native, graduating from Southeastern Oklahoma State University with a BFA in Musical Theatre. While attending, he achieved multiple accolades, including Best Actor in a Musical, Best Actor in a Play, and 2x Vocalist of the Year. He has since toured the country with the National Theatre for Children, done Summer Stock with the Oklahoma Shakespearean Festival, and relocated to DFW where he has been seen performing with such companies as WaterTower Theatre, Casa Mañana, Allen Contemporary Theatre, Granbury Theatre Company, Stephenville Dance Center, and Firehouse Theatre. Some of his favorite roles include: Davey (NEWSIES), Riff (WEST SIDE STORY), Franklin Hart Jr (9-5), Giles Ralston (Agatha Christie's THE MOUSETRAP), Ed Boone (THE CURIOUS... NIGHT-TIME), Malcolm/Porter (MACBETH), and Tranio (THE TAMING...SHREW). His next project is performing in SISTER ACT at Bass Hall with Jubilee Theatre.
