Dance class is education and fun, however, an important part of class work is developing an attitude of discipline and respect for teachers and fellow students. We trust that following our classroom etiquette will provide an environment whereby classes at SDC will be a pleasure for all concerned.

Stay Connected
Check out Stephenville Dance Center via our website at stephenvilledancecenter.com answers to many common questions can be found on the website including important updates, the dress code and the studio calendar.
Please add the GroupMe app to your phone.  Your teacher will communicate with your class through text this way.  Your teacher will send a text out the first week of class to start the group.  Please respond once in order to continue receiving texts.
SDC is also on Facebook and we update our page often - information on studio closures, and studio news will be shared there.
Make sure SDC has the correct contact information for your family. Update your e-mail address through the Parent Portal. All of our important announcement and tuition notices will be sent through email.
If you have questions for your dancer's teacher, please send a text to your teacher to get connected. Our classes run on a tight timeline, teachers normally won't have time to answer questions or address issues between classes.

Studio logistics
For the safety of our students, dancers should be picked up and dropped off inside the studio. Dancers may not leave the studio without an adult.
Come a little early to class - 10 minutes should give your dancer enough time to use the restroom, get their shoes on and get prepared for class.
Dancers should be ready to start dancing at the time their class starts. This means they have their shoes on, hair ready and are inside the studio. If your dancer needs to change at the studio, please allow ample time.
Dancers should have their hair pulled back and off their neck for all classes. Check THE DRESSCODE for information about specific attire and hair requirements for your dancer's classes.

Personal Items
Please put your dancer's name on all dance items, especially shoes.
The lost and found box is located in the dressing room. Students can leave belongings in the dressing room - bags, jackets and street shoes should stay outside the classroom.
Leave valuable items at home - THE STUDIO is not responsible for lost or stolen items.

In- Class Behavior
Any student arriving more than 15 minutes late will not be admitted to class.  For your safety and to receive full benefit from your class, please arrange for a make-up class if you expect to be very late. All students are encouraged not to leave the room once class has begun. Please allow for appropriate restroom use prior to class.  Very young children will be treated sensitively as the need arises. 
 

School age children and teens: please practice respect.  Students are not to be socializing in a disruptive manner during the class with other students.  Please come early or stay late to enjoy friends in the waiting area.  Please honor your teacher and fellow students by giving full attention and co-operation.  You will be advised if we feel any student is not well adjusted to the classroom environment for any reason over time.

Out of town guests may request to visit at any time throughout the year.  No one else is allowed to sit and watch during regular class time.

Dress Code
It’s important for students abide by a dress code policy for the following reasons:
·      A neat and tidy appearance sets an attitude of attentiveness and respect for students, teacher, and the art of dance.
·      Teachers must be able to see the dancer's body outline clearly      in order to make proper corrections on posture, alignment, etc.
·      A leotard and tights must be worn to ballet, jazz, lyrical and tap. Leggings and a tank top are not appropriate attire for these forms of dance.
·      The appropriate shoes for each style of dance must be worn in each class. 
·      Hair must be properly secured and tied up off of the face and neck for all styles of dance. For ballet, a proper bun is a requirement
·      Please only wear stud earrings to class.  Bracelets, necklaces and dangling earrings can be dangerous
·      Gum chewing is not allowed due to danger of choking.
·      No loose-fitting pants, blue jeans or t-shirts (they are not dance attire).
·      No costumes are allowed in class unless a dress up day is announced by the individual teacher.

 Billing Procedures
A statement will be emailed at the beginning of each month.  On months that we are collecting costume fees, that amount will be added to the statement.  The invoice does not itemize your bill.  Log in to your parent portal to see the break-down of your invoice.
Any student with an overdue balance of more than 60 days will not be allowed into class until payment in full is received or payment arrangements have been made.
If for any reason you decide to discontinue your classes, please notify Ms. Renee by text (254-977-3772). You will continue to be billed until I am notified.
You may pay through Paypal or check.  I am not equipped for credit cards at the studio.

Cancellations
Cancellations due to weather: We will follow the school district when weather is bad.  If the schools are closed we will be closed too. Studio closings will also be posted on our website, Facebook and through the GroupMe app.  If SDC cancels a class, students will be responsible for arranging their own make-up classes at a time that is convenient for them. The dancer is welcome to take another class in their perspective levels. In the event of multiple cancellations, make-up classes will be scheduled during school vacations. No credit will be given for weather cancellations; however, students are always welcome to take make-up classes for any missed class at their regular times.

Injury or Illness
When student sustains an injury that does not permit them to participate over an extended period of time a credit or refund will be issued. In some cases, a doctor's note is required to return to class. If your dancer has a fever, please do not bring them back to dance until fever has broken for 24 hours. If your dancer is injured, they should still come to class to learn choreography even if it is just to observe.

During class if a student complains of being ill, or sustains an injury and cannot participate, the instructor will notify the parents if they are not on the premises.

Missed Classes
Credit will not be given for missed classes due to illness, snow days, vacations or personal commitments.

Holidays
The studio will be closed for major holidays and school vacations. However, it does not close for school improvement days, Columbus Day, President’s Day, etc. Please see our calendar for dates that the studio will be closed.

Costume Costs
We do two performances a year.  We do a Holiday Showcase which is an informal showcasing.  Costumes will be required but we try to keep those around $30 for each dance.  The spring production is a much bigger production and the costumes are more expensive.  Those are $70 per costume.  All costume payments are nonrefundable.  There is also a $30 participation fee for the spring production

Registration
All students must register online. Registration includes a $30 nonrefundable fee. If you register for more than one class you will be prompted to pay $30.  This holds your spot in the class.  In September this holding payment will be put towards tuition. For instance, if you sign up for 3 classes you will be prompted to pay $30 three times for a total of $90.  In September when tuition is due, $30 will be held for the registration fee and $60 will be put towards tuition.  

Changing Class Levels and the addition of a new level
If you think your dancer needs to move up a level please contact me before enrolling them in a new level class.  I can provide the proper placement suggestions.  The instructor may change placement of the dancer if she feels that placement is incorrect, either moving the dancer down or up a level.

 Recital Dates
Our Holiday Showcase will be on Saturday, December 14th at 6:00 at the SPARD gym

Our Spring Performance May 30th & 31st at the Clyde H Wells Auditorium at Tarleton.  There is a $30 performance fee for this show.
